Praise for
Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys

"For all those who enjoy her weekly column, the book is a must.  I can well imagine that it also will be a gift unwrapped at many baby showers and birthdays for some time to come."

~Charlie Clark, The Lawton Constitution

"I am so excited to have something next to my bed to read at night that will keep me up laughing - not put me to sleep! I have only read the first couple of pages but was laughing out loud so that my daughter came over to ask me to read it to her!"

~Kate, a mama from California

"I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your book! It is so freaking funny I can't stand it!  I laugh as I read along! Thanks for putting that out there for all of us moms who need to know we aren't alone!"

~Paige, a mama from California

"I got your book within two days, from Amazon, and even those times are past for me, it is a 'can't put down' book--an entertaining but sympathetic look at rearing offspring.  You're a rising STAR."

~Beverly, a mama from Oklahoma

"I've been reading your book and I love it.  You're an awesome Mom and a very funny writer.  Just wait until the Cheese Eater and the Bald-Headed Monkey are off to college.... It will happen before you know it!"

~Kathy, a mama from California

"Let me tell you...I could relate in every way!! It is so wonderful to see the truth in writing!  I also own 5 strollers, I have a poop story (actually I have several) and in all of my frustrations as a mother all it takes it a simple smile from my children to make my emotional mommy meltdowns go away.  Thank you for sharing that with me and I plan to recommend your book to other mama's."

~Cara, a mama from California

"Your book helped me realize that each child is a blessing, and although the early years are tough, they are also precious."

~Carrie, a mama from California

For every mama craving more—more sympathy and support, more peace and quiet, more time to herself, more patience—celebrated columnist Stephenie Bentley Freeman delivers a hearty dose of perspective and wit with her priceless, day-in-the-life true tales from a quasi-modern mama who is knee deep in domesticity and over the moon for her two kids (one who’s a cheese addict and the other who has an uncanny resemblance to Curious George).

Admittedly losing her mind faster than the baby weight, Freeman dares to find the humor in the chaos and the poignancy in the otherwise absurd. Whether she’s debating squeezing herself into "Old McDonald’s Jungle Gym of Germs" to retrieve her panicky tot, chastising her husband for forgetting to send her flowers on Giving-Birth Day, painstakingly removing poop from a wicker chair ("it requires a scrub brush, toothpicks, and a lot of patience"), or deeply regretting the day she first cut the crust off of her son’s sandwich, Freeman writes candidly about the hilarious trials and countless joys of parenting.

Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys is filled with refreshingly honest, delightfully reassuring, and uncannily familiar chronicles that will resonate with frazzled moms everywhere whose blessings are many and who love their kids like crazy.

Mama's Press Release for her new book

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Humor columnist’s new book gives modern mothers more reasons to laugh

(Valencia, California, September 12, 2007) —Motherhood isn’t easy, but laughing about it is.

In a society filled with books and blogs that constantly complain about the inconveniences of motherhood, author Stephenie Bentley Freeman chooses to see the sippy cup half full and manages to find the comedy amongst the child-created chaos giving mothers everywhere plenty to laugh about.

In her first book, Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys: Tales from a Mama Who Has It All and Still Wants More (iUniverse, $12.95), Freeman talks of motherhood in a way that will make you laugh instead of cry.

“Sitting in church one Sunday, I listened intently to a sermon about Adam and Eve being the first parents,” Freeman writes in her weekly humor column. “Naturally, I began to wonder. Where did Eve go wrong with her boys? Poor Eve. I can hear her now. ‘I turned my back on them for a second and the next thing I know they were trying to kill each other!’ Even Eve didn’t get it right the first time, so I figure I’m in pretty good company.”

Awarded the iUniverse Editor’s Choice designation for outstanding editorial quality, Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys is a humorous reflection on living with children written for every mother craving more things like sympathy, support, patience, and most of all, laughter.

“I am constantly wishing and wanting more even though my life is very full and feels very complete as a mother and a writer. But, when the laundry has piled up and the baby’s hand is stuck in the dryer vent. When the guinea pig has escaped and all you find are dust bunnies. When you’re losing your mind instead of the baby weight—it is time for a little more laughter.”

More is certainly something that Freeman knows about. Tired of sending out her “funny mama stories” via email to friends and relatives, Freeman decided to do more for her writing career and started her own website, MamaWantsMore.com, for what she referred to as “my small hand-full of regular readers.” Almost two years later, with a weekly humor column in the Lawton Constitution in Lawton, Oklahoma, and a family blogger on Disney’s family.com, Freeman can now add “published author” with her compilation of 42 humorous columns in Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys.

Filled with refreshingly honest, delightfully reassuring, and uncannily familiar tales, Living with Cheese Eaters and Bald-Headed Monkeys is a quick, enjoyable read and a perfect pick-me-up for today’s stressed-out, over-scheduled mother whose blessings are many but still want more out of life.
